Our Story – V.I.B.E of my T.R.I.B.E
V.I.B.E of my T.R.I.B.E was born on a porch in West Philadelphia, where a retired widow called Nana raised her grandchildren with love, pride, and purpose. While her neighbors’ porches sat quiet, Nana’s overflowed with laughter, chores, and lessons in service. She sent her grandchildren to help elders sweep sidewalks, change light bulbs, and show up for those who needed a hand. That wasn’t charity—it was culture. It was tribe.
Leslie, our founder, grew up in that legacy. A proud Gen X daughter of humble beginnings, she carried those lessons into a 25-year career serving adjudicated youth, developmentally disabled individuals, and families navigating trauma and neglect. She saw firsthand how women of color—especially caregivers and direct care workers—were undervalued, underpaid, and underrepresented, even as they held up entire communities.
In 2017, a workplace injury forced Leslie into a year-long recovery. Unable to walk, drive, or work, she experienced the cracks in America’s safety net: limited income, inaccessible support, and a dehumanizing system that barely looked her in the eye. But she rose. And she built something new.
